For those relocating from larger metro areas, you will notice Sheboygan County has virtually no traffic. But odd enough, just about everywhere you go within the County it takes you about 15 minutes. It is weird, we know.
Sheboygan County has the advantage of being a small enough place for individuals to make a difference, but large enough where others likely share your passion to solve a society issue. Volunteerism, church activity and generous nonprofit giving provides those who care about others with tools to help their fellow man. Get involved today.
Within the county you will find many neighborhood bakeries. In the same way most Americans have a doctor or dentist, we have our bakers. Many local residents are loyal to one bakery, primarily because of the famous "Sheboygan Hard Roll," a unique take on a classic hard roll except it is made with a "sponge and dough" method of baking. Find your baker today.

Cheese and Sausage
Sheboygan County is home to four major cheese processors and at least four cheese factories. We also are the home of the largest sausage producer in the United States and several favorite hometown butcher shops. For us, cheese and sausage is more than a staple at holiday family gatherings, it is a way of life.
We bet you didn't know that Sheboygan County was home to one of first NBA Teams, The Sheboygan Red Skins. We also have a local alumni who just signed with the Houston Rockets. Maybe you have heard of him... Sam Dekker!
It seems like there is nothing stopping Wisconsin communities from creating another weekend festival. We will create any excuse to hold a 5k run in the morning, kid-friendly games and activities in the afternoon, listen to live music and drink beer at night. We even have festivals to watch rubber ducks float lazily down a river, jump into freezing water, fund-raise for cures for children's diseases and honor the birth of America by blowing up a small piece of it. Isn't America Great!
We eat a lot of fish on Fridays; a tribute to our many lakes and rivers in Wisconsin. Residents of the area enjoy many types of preparation of our fish which include deep fried, broiled and boiled. If you move here from out-of-state, go out on your first Friday night and order fish with a piece of rye bread, coleslaw, and a brandy Old Fashioned. Congratulations, you are now officially a Wisconsinite.
Humility, A Way of Life
Sheboygan County, Wisconsin is a humble place to live. We do not like to brag about our communities, schools or clubs. They are good, but odds are, you will not hear that from locals.
As a fiscally conservative area, residents of Sheboygan County like to keep money where it belongs...in our pockets. This is not to say that we don't have luxury goods. Actually, that is far from the truth. What you can expect to experience is; excessive use of coupons by locals, long tavern happy hours, a lot of senior citizen discounts, stores devoted to fixing apparel such as cobblers and zipper repair and popular factory outlet stores like Old Wisconsin, Wigwam, and Natural Ovens Bakery Outlet.
